Some cataclysm of unknown origin.
The Galilean Moons of Jupiter glow in the darkness of space.
I had the idea – set in the distant future – of a colony at work on Europa; and how, by some calamitous event, the colonists were separated. As a result, various members were left behind after the ship left for Earth, or possibly for another colony on another Galilean Moon (perhaps they left for Callisto). Were these members of the third colony deliberately exiled? Time will tell…

An excellent album of dark ambient music. Both tracks warrant being my favourite. Cinematic music which stimulates the mind’s eye. Favourite track: A Thousand Shades Howling at Callisto.

ALBUM REVIEWS
ALBUM: Träume von Cyborgs (2023-2024)
First of all, this project manages to create a mystical and eerie atmosphere within seconds. Gripping the listener with beautifully textured streaming sounds, before leading into more dark and twisted tapestries of sound. I always say the first few seconds of a record are really important, as they can be the decider of “Am I going to listen to this, or not?”, and with this, the answer is definitely “Yes”.
The progressions of these tracks are mesmerising, and lead the listener into many different moods and journeys. Small textural choices and carefully constructed nuances really help to keep my interest during the longer tracks. The sound design is impeccable! The sounds that are created here remind of musique concréte musicians such as Lionel Marchetti, various industrial artists, and reminds me of famous electronic composers such as Klaus Schulze, who I am aware this project is dedicated to, which I think is very sweet.
Overall, this is a wonderfully put together experience, and I find myself to be quite impressed overall! It is obvious that the inspirations for this album were very varied and diverse and I love it.

ALBUM: Machinic Maelstrom (2024)
First collaboration between Epoch Collapse and Black Cactus.
I am excited to release a very special collaboration made with a long-time colleague, the immensely talented Epoch Collapse. A rewarding insight into combining contrasting but heavily overlapping music textures, differing creative technologies and the vast geographical distances between us. This began as an investigative project to combine our unique styles and practices and equally to disrupt our own set points and push into new sonic territories. The motif running under Machinic Maelstrom is the industrial rhythms of trains, taking Kraftwerk’s Trans Europe Express into new dark and foreboding atmospherics. Needless to say, the process took many months of going back and forth, but we have embellished this with lush musical textures and deep explorative techniques from our shared knowledge and appreciation. ALBUM: Necropolis Webs (2025)
Second collaboration between Epoch Collapse and Black Cactus.
With “Necropolis Webs”, Epoch Collapse and Black Cactus take off from where the “Machinic Maelstrom” took us. This time, leaving no harmony untethered, every remnant of melody eviscerated, shredded and smudged, leaving behind nothing but an unhinged mire of ragged and bleak dread. The winter months were spent foraging and honing our demented craft with garage recordings, suspension springs, wrecked keyboards and junk percussion. Here, in the depths, we found echoes in a shared cinematic passion for retro sci-fi-apocalypse films, “The Last Man on Earth” and “Them!”. These classics seemed worthwhile compatriots to fuse into our heaving soundtrack of oblivion and cataclysm. We hope you possess the fearlessness to wrap your ears around this sonic mayhem unperturbed.

ALBUM: The Ship’s Pipes Gurgled… like Androids Treading Water (2026)
This one took me a while to listen to because dark ambient/drone stuff isn’t really my thing. I finally decided to tough it out today and give it a listen. It’s quite a long album at an hour, but it’s worth it. This album makes me feel like I’m being anchored to the bottom of the sea. I love the textures here. I can feel the influence from [Ligeti’s] Requiem in this. Overall, a very cool project that I probably should’ve listened to sooner.
